7.5. Leading knot of coupling


1. Remove the transmission.
2. Note the provision of the leading knot of coupling in relation to a flywheel, using a marker or paint.
3. Gradually in the diagonal sequence weaken bolts of the leading knot of coupling, turning each bolt on a half of a turn until it is terminated springs and bolts will be able to be unscrewed manually.
4. By means of the lever remove the leading knot of coupling from the directing probes, remove a clutch plate.



It is desirable to replace the clutch plate conducting knot of coupling and the release bearing in a set if at least one of them demands replacement. For washing of the leading knot and a clutch plate it is possible to use a cleaner of brakes or methyl alcohol.

1. Check overlays of a clutch plate for wear, mechanical damages or pollution by oil.
2. With these defects the clutch plate needs to be replaced.
3. If frictional slips in good shape are also not worn-out to grooves, springs of dampers are reliably fixed and rivet connections are not loosened, then the clutch plate can be installed in the car.
4. If the clutch plate is polluted by oil, check the left oil consolidation of the crankshaft or a main shaft of the transmission. If necessary replace sealing rings before installation of a new clutch plate.
5. Check knot of a drive plate for wear of a press disk, mechanical damages, reliability of rivet connection, damage of a diaphragm spring of coupling. If the spring of a diaphragm is worn-out or damaged, or there is a suspicion that elasticity of a spring changed, then it is necessary to replace knot of a drive plate.
6. Check the working surfaces of a press disk and a flywheel interfaced to overlays of a clutch plate. They have to be pure, flat, not have scratches and development. In the presence of a buckling from high temperature or cracks they need to be replaced.
7. Check the release bearing which has to rotate easily, evenly and silently. The working surface of the bearing influencing a press spring has to be smooth, without cracks, local corrosion or development. If there are these defects, the release bearing needs to be replaced. On the leading knots of coupling of the second type it is necessary to replace all knot.


1. Establish a clutch plate that the nave of springs was directed outside from a flywheel. On a clutch plate the marking specifying correctness of installation of a clutch plate can be put.
2. Establish the leading knot of coupling on the tags made at removal. Manually tighten bolts of fastening of the leading knot of coupling.
3. A mandrel center a clutch plate in order that the main shaft of the transmission passed through grooves in the center of a clutch plate.
4. Centering of a clutch plate can be made, using a special mandrel or independently made mandrel which sizes correspond to a main shaft of the transmission.
5. Evenly and in the diagonal sequence tighten bolts of fastening of the leading part of coupling.
6. Install the transmission.
