9.2. Removal and installation of power shafts

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

It is impossible to lower the car on wheels at all with the removed one or two power shafts since it will lead to damage of bearings of a wheel. If it is necessary to move the car, it is necessary to establish temporarily the external end of a power shaft of a nave and to fix it by a nut.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Prevention

At installation of spherical hinged connection of the lower lever it is necessary to use a new nut.


1. Take off a cap of a nave of a wheel and elements of blocking of a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave. Weaken a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave on the car standing wheels on the earth. Also weaken bolts of fastening of a wheel. Lift a forward part of the car and record on supports. Remove the corresponding forward wheel.
2. Merge oil from the transmission.
3. On the models equipped with ABS remove the sensor installed on a car wheel.
4. Unscrew a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave.
Prevention

For simplification of unscrewing of a nut of fastening of a power shaft to a nave it is necessary to use the plugs blocking a nave (adaptation 0606 AY).


5. Unscrew a nut of the lower spherical hinge of a suspension bracket. Take the spherical hinge from the lever by means of a universal stripper for spherical hinges.

6. Take away a nave from the car and take the external end of a power shaft from a nave. If necessary for extraction of a shaft from a nave use the rubber hammer or a kiyanka.
7. Supporting a power shaft, take the internal end of a shaft from the transmission, trying not to damage a sealing ring of differential at the same time. Take a power shaft from under the car.
Right power shaft
8. Weaken two bolts of fastening of the intermediate bearing of the right power shaft.
9. Then turn bolts (are specified by shooters) on 90 ° so that their heads were displaced from the external end of the bearing.
10. Take away a nave from the car and take the external end of a power shaft from a nave. If necessary for extraction of a shaft from a nave use the rubber hammer or a kiyanka.
11. Supporting the external end of a power shaft, take the internal end of a shaft from the transmission and exempt the intermediate bearing from an installation suspension bracket.
12. After extraction of a power shaft from the transmission remove a protective cover from the internal end of a shaft, noting the place of its installation, and take a power shaft from under the car.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installation of a power shaft check a condition of a sealing ring of a power shaft in the transmission.
2. Clear vents for a power shaft in a nave and the transmission. Grease with a thin layer of lubricant working edges of a sealing ring, a vent of a power shaft and flanges.

3. Establish a power shaft in differential, having combined vents of a power shaft with flutes of semi-axial gear wheels of differential. Insert a power shaft into the transmission against the stop.
4. Establish the external end of a power shaft in a nave.
5. Establish a protective plate to the lower spherical hinged connection, then connect the lower hinged connection with the lever.
6. Establish a new nut of fastening of hinged connection and tighten it the required moment. Grease inside and a carving of a nut of fastening of a power shaft with pure engine oil, screw it on a power shaft and tighten the required moment. Check that the nave rotates freely then establish a blocking washer.
7. Record a blocking washer the spring forelock.
8. Install the ABS sensor.
9. Establish a wheel, then lower the car on the earth and finally tighten bolts the required moment.
10. Check oil level in the transmission and if necessary add.
Right power shaft
11. Check that the intermediate bearing rotates easily and evenly. Make sure that there is no side play of an external ring in relation to internal.
12. Grease with a thin layer of lubricant an external ring of the intermediate bearing and an internal ledge for a dustproof cover.
13. Insert the internal end of a shaft through a suspension bracket of installation of the intermediate bearing and establish a dustproof cover on a power shaft.
14. Combine internal vents of a power shaft with grooves of a semi-axial gear wheel of differential, and the intermediate bearing with an installation suspension bracket. Insert a power shaft against the stop into the transmission.
15. Install the external hinge of equal angular speeds in a nave.
16. Check correctness of installation of the intermediate bearing, then turn bolts on 90 ° and enshrine them in this provision by nuts. Close the intermediate bearing a dustproof cover.
17. Establish a protective plate to the lower spherical hinged connection, then connect the lower hinged connection with the lever.
18. Establish a new nut of fastening of hinged connection and tighten it the required moment. Grease inside and a carving of a nut of fastening of a power shaft with pure engine oil, screw it on a power shaft and tighten the required moment. Check that the nave rotates freely then establish a blocking washer and record it the spring forelock.
19. Install the ABS sensor.
20. Establish a wheel, then lower the car on the earth and finally tighten bolts the required moment.
21. Check oil level in the transmission and if necessary add.
