4.7. Sensor of a lamp of excess of temperature of cooling liquid

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

On models with the petrol engine with the conditioner and on models with the diesel engine the temperature Bitron sensor operates the index of temperature of cooling liquid.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The temperature Bitron sensor (it is specified by an arrow) is screwed in on the left side of a head of the block of cylinders. The sensor can be identified on blue color of the electric socket. On liter models 1.8 and 2.0 with 16 valves sensors are screwed in in a thermostat casing.
2. The index of temperature of cooling liquid is powered by constant tension from the dashboard (via the lock of ignition and the fuse). The Bitron sensor is installed in a chain of grounding of the index of temperature. The sensor contains a thermistor – an electronic component which electric resistance decreases under a certain law at increase in its temperature. When cooling liquid cold, sensor resistance big, and as a result electric current through the index of temperature is insignificant and the arrow of the index indicates the blue (cold) site of a scale. At temperature increase of cooling liquid and reduction of resistance of the sensor, i.e. increase in electric current, the shooter of the index moves to the top part of a scale. If the sensor is faulty, it needs to be replaced.
3. On models with a lamp of the alarm system of excess of temperature the bulb is powered from the dashboard and is run by the sensor of instant inclusion which is installed in a chain of the wire connecting a bulb to weight. If the bulb of the alarm system of excess of temperature is established in addition to the index of temperature, they unite two separate wires weighing car via sensors.
4. If the index of temperature shows excess of temperature, and the bulb does not light up, then it is necessary to check giving of tension for it and operability of the sensor. Perhaps malfunction is in the conductor of the printed circuit board. Malfunction can be defined as follows.
5. If the arrow of the index of temperature is in a cold zone of a scale at the hot engine, remove a wire from the sensor and attach it to a head of the block of cylinders. If the arrow of the index deviates at inclusion of ignition, the sensor means it is faulty and is subject to replacement. If the arrow does not deviate, remove the dashboard and check integrity of a wire between the sensor and the index of temperature. If the wire whole, and defect is present, so the index of temperature which needs to be replaced is faulty.
6. If the arrow of the index of temperature indicates the hot site of a scale at the cold engine, remove a wire from the sensor. If the arrow of the index comes back to a cold part of a scale at the included ignition, the sensor means it is faulty and is subject to replacement. If the arrow of the index still remains on the place, check an electric chain as it is described earlier.
7. Also work of an emergency lamp of excess of temperature is similarly checked.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
The procedure of removal is similar to removal of the thermal sensor of turning on of the fan of a radiator.
