14.8. Brake system

GENERAL INFORMATION

Before check of operation of the brake system be convinced that pressure in tires corresponds demanded, the angles of installation of forward wheels correct and the car is loaded evenly.

When braking the car takes away aside:

 – brake shoes on one party of the car are worn-out or polluted;
 – the piston of the working brake cylinder or a support is jammed;
 – brake shoes with different properties are installed on the different sides of the car;
 – bolts of fastening of a support are unreliably tightened;
 – suspension bracket elements are worn-out or damaged.

Extraneous noise when braking:

 – wear of a brake shoe to metal;
 – corrosion of a brake disk or brake drum;
 – between a brake disk and a brake board foreign objects (stones) got.

The course of a brake pedal is increased:

 – the main brake cylinder is faulty;
 – air in system of the drive of brakes;
 – the vacuum amplifier of brakes is faulty.

Easy pressing of a pedal of a brake:

 – air in system of the drive of brakes;
 – defect of rubber brake hoses;
 – nuts of fastening of the main brake cylinder are unreliably tightened;
 – the main brake cylinder is faulty.

For a stop of the car it is necessary to make too big effort for a brake pedal:

 – the vacuum amplifier of brakes is faulty;
 – the vacuum hose of the amplifier of brakes is untight;
 – brake tubes are pressed or deformed;
 – the piston in the working brake cylinder is jammed;
 – brake shoes are incorrectly established;
 – the type of brake shoes does not correspond to demanded;
 – pollution of brake shoes;
 – the vacuum pump (diesel engines) is faulty.

Vibration when braking:

 – the beating of a brake disk exceeds admissible limits;
 – brake shoes are worn-out;
 – bolts of fastening of a brake board or a support are unreliably tightened;
 – wear of elements of a suspension bracket.

Jamming of brakes:

 – the piston of the working brake cylinder is jammed;
 – the mechanism of the emergency brake is incorrectly adjusted;
 – the main brake cylinder is faulty.

Blocking of back wheels when braking:

 – pollution of back brake shoes;
 – deformation of the back brake drum.
